A thorough preoperative evaluation is where avoidable problems get caught: an uncontrolled condition, a missing clearance, a medication that should have been managed days earlier. The difficulty has always been timing. The most careful look at a patient has traditionally come close to the day of surgery, which is often too late to fix what it finds, so the case gets cancelled.
Health systems have tried to move that work earlier with preop clinics and phone calls. They help, but the information needed to do the evaluation well is scattered across years of records, and cases still fall through the cracks. The technology to pull that picture together and support a thorough, guideline-led evaluation at the very start of the process, for every patient, did not exist.
That is why we built Procedo: to bring an academically rigorous preoperative evaluation to the start of the perioperative process, while the team can still act on what surfaces. The anesthesiologist knew the problem. The agentic engineer knew how to solve it. They built Procedo Health together.

Von brings the clinical authority behind everything Procedo does. As chair of the anesthesiology department at a Level II trauma center, he has spent his career at the intersection of patient safety, surgical throughput, and the practical limits of the pre-op process. He shapes Procedo from the perspective of an anesthesiologist treating patients, and an HSO stakeholder responsible for the department's CQI.

Sam holds a master's in computer science and has spent 25 years building and scaling software at technology companies, across product, engineering, and architecture. He partnered with Von to bring that experience to healthcare and build Procedo's infrastructure for security, reliability, and real-world clinical integration from day one.
